Lake Macquarie Junior Rugby Club

Lake Macquarie Junior Rugby Club are one of the Hunter’s strongest junior clubs. Affectionately known as the Roos, Lake Macquarie has junior teams from U7s right through to U18s.

The Roos base their club on being an inclusive environment where children will learn to play the game safely and for the enjoyment of the sport. They have produced some of the region’s best juniors and boast many representative players.

Lake Macquarie like to connect from junior level right through to senior ranks where everyone no matter how big or small has the same privilege of being called a Roo. Roos Juniors have respect for themselves and others and play the game in the spirit it is meant to be played, the way true Roos play the game. If you or your child has what it takes to follow these values join the Roos today.

In recent years Lake Macquarie have been at the forefront of the emergence of girls rugby in the Hunter and are proactive in encouraging girls to come and try rugby. Over the summer months the Roos committee have hosted the girls summer 7s comp on many Friday nights. With experienced coaches leading the way the Lake Macquarie girls teams are shaping up to produce quality rugby players both on and off the field.

The Roos much-loved home ground is Walters Park, Speers Point. With two rugby fields side-by-side game day at Walters Park is always a showcase of good junior rugby. All Junior Roos teams play a signature style of rugby and a trip to Walters Park always delivers a competitive game right up to the final whistle – and a really good sausage sanga after the game!
