Hamilton Hawks Junior Rugby Club

The love of rugby is strong in the Hamilton Hawks Junior Rugby Club! The Hawks have a unique ability to mix long-standing rugby traditions with community focused initiatives that combine to create a strong grassroots rugby club that encourages kids to give their all. Their blue and gold jersey is worn with pride from the juniors right up through to the seniors and game day at Hamilton never disappoints.

2021 has been a big season for the Hawks who currently have 113 XV’s Boys Players registered, the Hawks field teams in U7, U8, U9, U10, U11, U12 and U15s in season 2021, their goal is to have a team in each age group, to help continue the growth and strength of their senior club.

Hamilton has a great girls rugby program which has seen strong teams in both the girls 7s competition and in the girls winter competition.

The Hawks also have the TIny Hawks Program which was established in 2018 to introduce little kids to rugby and welcome them into the Hawks family. Tiny Hawks is open to boys and girls aged 2-6 years and is a skills and activities-based program run by our senior club players and coaches that encourages movement, participation, and fun, run over two 5 week blocks in April/May and then again in August. Parents are welcome to be actively involved or sit back and watch.

The Hawks have a charity partnership with Got Your Back Sista, this partnership has been ongoing since 2018, a partnership they are extremely proud of and hope can make a difference in the younger generation, teaching them that Domestic Violence is never Ok, to help recognise what a healthy relationship looks like.

The aim at Hamilton Hawks Juniors is to promote fun and involvement for both players and their parents in, what they believe is, the best sport to play, rugby union!

Along with Hunter Junior Rugby Union, NSW Country Rugby Union and Rugby Australia, the Hawks want to provide opportunities and pathways for local juniors to learn and play rugby. Encouraging all young individuals to have a go no matter what experience they have!

Rugby is a great team game with a focus on safety through its modified laws designed for players of every age and ability. They are also committed to making rugby inclusive and accessible for all.

Adopt a Junior Day was established in 2007 and has been running each year since. This is where their junior players (generally the U11s and below) are buddied up with a premier one player for the week.

The premier one players hang out with their junior buddies for the hour or two prior to their match, giving the kids the chance to see up close the preparation of the senior players for their game, including stretching and warm-up. The juniors get to join in with these activities, and then run onto the field with their mentors for the match.

The juniors also get to join in the half time talk and (hopefully) sing the Club Song with the ‘big boys’ after the win!

This has proven to be an enjoyable day for players, both young and old, parents and Old Boys who get to see the future of the club alongside current stars.

Club Song
Heeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyyyy Look us over
We’re on the run
We play good football and have a lot of fun
Don’t be mistaken, don’t be mistook
And if ya don’t believe then you wanna have a look
Cause we shake em in the forwards
and shake em in the backs
And if they don’t try hard we’ll make em look like hacks
So if you wanna see good football and you wanna be told,
Play for Hamilton Blue and Gold (without ya pants on)
Hamilton Blue and Gold (we play good football)
Hamilton Blue and Gold!
Up the Blue and Golds and more points!
